What is Counselling

Therapy is about empowering ourselves with understanding so we can better comprehend our own feelings, reactions, and behaviours. This enables us to change or adapt those that may have been causing us difficulties.

Sharing our most intimate experiences, concerns and thoughts with a non -judgmental professional can really help us gain further understanding of why we are as we are, and react as we do.

I, too, have lived through many of life’s challenges and entirely understand these can be varied and vast from my professional and personal experiences. I do not judge. I cannot emphasise that enough, as each individual’s frame of reference is different and the relationship built between client and counsellor is one of trust.

I am an Integrative therapist which means I draw upon a variety of approaches depending on which will effectively help you. These include:

Person-centred therapy, Transactional Analysis, Solution Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT); Existential and Psychodynamic practices.

I specialise in working with challenges such as: eating disorders, anxiety, panic, depression, trauma, mid-life changes, addictions, low self-esteem, feeling sad, being stuck in adaptive patterns e.g., people pleasing and avoidance, procrastination, angry outbursts, frustration and co-dependency.

I have helped clients to feel more confident in themselves by identifying the hurdles that are holding them back.

    Georgeana Gibbins

I am an Integrative Counsellor, Tutor and Complementary Therapist with 18 years’ experience in therapies and 8 years of teaching. I have taught in the UK, Europe and South America, and has also taught at Chulmleigh Community College.

I have always been drawn to a holistic approach to health, well-being and women’s and men’s health since a young age and I have studied with a variety of teachers and modalities around the world. Originally from Brazil, I have been living and working in the UK over 25 years.

My counselling journey has started when more and more clients presented needing of mental health support at my holistic therapies practice. What started out of curiosity and desire to learn how to listen to people more effectively ended in a full psychotherapy/counselling qualification, leading me to specialise in eating disorders and trauma working with both young people and adults.

In addition, I have developed didactic materials for courses and companies, including the training manuals for the courses I offer in self-development and holistic therapies throughout the year.

I have a PhD in Philosophy, and I love thinking and writing on the interconnectedness of Spirituality and Philosophy and I am a registered member of BACP.
